Will ibuprofen reduce the redness of a sunburn?

My toddler got sunburned today (one of those fluke sunny days and the last thing you think of is sunblock) and it was obviously hurting him, so I gave him some ibuprofen, and less than an hour later the redness was gone. So I was just curious.

I’ve never heard of it, but I know it reduces swelling and inflamation, so maybe it does reduce the appearance by getting rid of the inflamation. I’m glad he feels better!
