Offensive language in public-How can you deal with it?
I was with my father and 8 year old sister, watching fireworks in a public park tonight. After the fireworks were over, the crowd (a few thousand or so) began leaving when a group of guys started screaming EXTREMELY offensive things at each other. I’m not sure if it was gang related,most of them were wearing black or white T-shirts.
Anyways, a few people walked by them and calmly told them “That’s enough, boys.” and they completely turned on the crowd and started following someone. A woman carrying a toddler told them that “she wasn’t going to tolerate this” and they called her a “Punk ass bitch”, then yelled “I plead the first!”
I understand that laws protecting our right to speak are there for a reason, but does a mother even have the right to protect her child from rude language anymore? Almost no one helped her, and if they did, they were verbally assaulted. The public is tired of standing for it or just ignoring it. How can you reason with these people?!
Ya know this is a hard problem because it deals with many different issues.
The best way is the calm approach I’ve found. Simply explain that you want them to have fun, and you don’t personally care if they talk that way, but there are little kids around.
It’s best to approach friendly.
I did that once and it worked great.
Or you could just walk up and tell them that if they don’t stop cussing, that you will remove their genitals, bury them with their dead ancestors, and sacrifice them to the ocean moon god. Then, they’ll be so freaked out they’ll quit hehehe.
