Mosquito Toddler

Mosquito Toddler
Camping for the first time with your little one?

So we’ve been planning this camping trip for awhile..
(My sons first camping trip… and the first time ive been camping since i was very young)

We’re going next week.
Just wanted to know other parents experience when camping with a baby or young toddler.

How was it when your child wanted to nap? Was the tent too hot to have child sleep in there during nap time? And the mosquito’s…. Did you use anything on your child to repel them?

I was thinking about using Burts Bees Herbal Insect Repellent… anyone try it??

Any tips or advice would be great!!
Thank you!

(Btw my son just turned 18 months)
Also i asked this in Newborn and baby but.. it might be a better question in toddler section… so here it is lol.

My family hasn’t been camping in about a year. I took the triplets there when they were about 20 months old.
I would love to go again because, we had a blast…at least you only have one monster to watch at the campground…try 3. I swear I almost had a heartattack when the girls decided to hide. :(
I think it was a lot of fun and the girls really enjoyed it.

Nap time has always been mandatory for my kids because, they need that relaxation time. They would sleep in the tent because, the outside was too bright out and too sticky. I had a portable fan (big one that blew inside the WHOLE tent) so, the girls were completely comfortable. They didn’t get hot and they were just under one blanket. They slept like a baby.

I hate misquitos so much and I have tried so many different repellents that I don’t remember the names of so, I couldn’t tell you if I have used it or not. I love Burts Bees things so, it would probobly be good. The misquitos were not an issue for us…I think it was because of the fan. :) I loved that fan..the girls kept cool and so did mommy and daddy.

Tips or Advice;
I don’t think I really have anything…
Oh yes I do;
keep your daily routine and schedule if you have one…just because you are camping and you are in the middle of the woods doesn’t mean you can slack off on your routines. breakfast, naps, lunch and dinner should be close to the same time…my sister decided to bend the rules a little bit and let her kids stay up late and wake up super late and also eat junk, no naps and play whenever they wanted. Her kids have never been the same because, they liked that schedule better.
Even if YOU don’t have a schedule…stick to a routine that is realistic…eat breakfast, lunch and dinner around the same time you would at home. Have naps at the same time as home. Go to bed and wake up around the same time at home. the only thing changing is the environment and activities you do during play time. :)

good luck and have a blast. :)
